Instinct
Instinct uses your apps through a private page of plain web forms, one per tool. It opens the page, signs in with a password, and fills in a form for each action. Everything runs as you, through Willow's gateway.
Connect Instinct
In the setup (click New agent, then pick Instinct), step 4 walks you through it. Scout writes the message in your browser's language.
- Send Instinct this message. It says where Instinct's page is and how to sign in. The password isn't in it. Click Open WhatsApp or iMessage to open a chat with Instinct with the message filled in, or Copy message and paste it yourself. The chat goes to Instinct's number, +1 650 870 2892; click the number to change it.
- Waiting for Instinct to open its page. This moves on by itself once Instinct opens the link.
- Give Instinct the password. Instinct asks for it with a secure vault link. Click Copy password and paste it there, never in the chat.
- Ask Instinct for something. Try one of the prompts the setup suggests. If Instinct needs your OK, the request shows up right on the page.
To connect it again later, open Instinct's page in Scout and click Reconnect.
Let Instinct set itself up
Instead of the setup, send Instinct to https://scout.withwillow.ai/tools/instinct. The page reads Connect Instinct to Willow and gives Instinct a link for you, like https://scout.withwillow.ai/connect/<code>. Open it, sign in to Willow or create an account, and click Allow. The link lapses after 15 minutes; Instinct can get a new one.
Once you allow it, the same address becomes Instinct's Willow setup page: the apps it has, a search to Add an app, and Open the tools page. For each app it adds, Instinct gets a sign-in link to send you. See Two ways to set one up.
What Instinct sees
The page is meant for Instinct. If you open the link on your own computer, it says This page is for Instinct only.
After signing in, Instinct sees:
- Whose account the page runs as, and whether a session is unlocked.
- Its requests: actions waiting for your approval, and recent answers.
- Its tools, grouped by app. Each is marked Needs a session, Asks each time or Sometimes asks first (a rule may make it ask), and opens a form.
When Instinct runs a tool that needs a session and none is approved, the page asks you for one and shows the link to send you. What Instinct filled in stays, and the tool runs once you approve. When a tool asks each time, the page shows that it's waiting for your approval, with the link and a countdown. If nobody approves within 30 minutes, the request lapses and Instinct can ask again. See Approve requests.
A session only works in the browser that asked for it. Results stay on the page for 30 minutes.
Password and access
Instinct's page opens with a password. Under the agent's Settings:
- Password > Reset: Make a new password, or Use my own (at least 12 characters). The old one stops working at once, and Instinct is disconnected until it has the new one.
- Access: how long the password lasts (30 days to start), how long a session lasts, and New link for a new page address.
See Access and settings.
Troubleshooting
| Instinct sees | What to do |
|---|---|
| This password expired | Reset the password on Instinct's page in Scout, and give Instinct the new one through its vault link. |
| This page is closed | You stopped access. Click Give access again under Settings > Access. |
| This page isn't available | The link is wrong, or you made a new link. Click Reconnect and send Instinct the new message. |
| "Too many wrong passwords" | Wait, then try again. Each new try waits longer, up to 15 minutes. |
| A tool is "not connected yet" | Sign in to that app on Instinct's page in Scout, under Connectors. |
| "That's a lot of actions at once" | Instinct ran more than 60 actions in a minute. It can try again shortly. |
