Dots
Dots connects to your apps as a plugin you add once. It connects over MCP like Muse and Grok Bot, but it can't add a server from a message, so you add Scout to it by hand, copying each value as you go. There's no password: Dots connects with OAuth, when you sign in to Willow and allow it.
Connect Dots
In the setup (click New agent, then pick Dots), step 4 walks you through it.
Add Willow to Dots as a plugin
- Go to Plugins in Dots. Select the + button, then Add custom MCP server.
- Name it and add the icon. Copy each value from Scout:
- Name:
Scout by Willow - Description: Scout writes it for you, with a link to Dots's page in Scout.
- Icon: click Download and upload the Willow icon.
- Name:
- Paste the server URL under Connection. It's a public HTTPS URL, like
https://scout.withwillow.ai/api/mcp/<key>, so don't pick Tunnel. - Pick OAuth for authentication. There's no password, key or header. If it asks for a client ID or secret, leave them empty: Dots registers itself with Willow.
- Accept the warning and create it. Select I understand and want to continue, then Create as a plugin.
Back in Scout, click I created the plugin.
Then
- Allow Dots in Willow. Once you create the plugin, Dots opens Willow. Sign in and click Allow. This moves on by itself once it's connected.
- Ask Dots for something. Try one of the prompts the setup suggests. If Dots needs your OK, the request shows up right on the page.
To connect it again later, open Dots's page in Scout and click Reconnect. It shows the same plugin steps.
Let Dots set itself up
Instead of the setup, add a plugin in Dots with the URL https://scout.withwillow.ai/mcp/dots. When you allow it, Dots sets up its agent and adds apps for you, sending you a sign-in link for each. See Two ways to set one up.
What Dots gets
Over the plugin, Dots sees the tools you switched on, each described with whose account it runs as. It also gets two tools of Willow's own:
- unlock_session asks you to approve a session and returns a short link for Dots to show you. Tools that need a session work as soon as you approve.
- check_approval tells Dots whether you approved a request, and gives it the result of an action once it ran.
See Approve requests.
Sign Dots out or remove it
- Sign out: under Settings > Sign-in, click Sign out. Every Dots connection ends at once, and Dots has to connect again, with you allowing it in Willow.
- Remove the plugin: Dots has no message to forget Scout. In Dots, go to Plugins, open Willow and remove it.
See Access and settings.
Troubleshooting
| What happens | What to do |
|---|---|
| Dots asks for a client ID or secret | Leave them empty. Dots registers itself with Willow. |
| Dots can't reach the server | Check you pasted the URL under Connection, not Tunnel. |
| Dots says it isn't connected | Access stopped or expired. Click Reconnect on Dots's page in Scout. |
| Dots doesn't see a tool | The tool is off, or you haven't signed in to its app. Check Connectors on Dots's page. |
