Gmail
Your assistant reads, searches and drafts your email in Gmail. Sending waits for your OK.
Connect Gmail
- In the setup: pick Gmail under What do you want to connect?, then click Connect on it in the next step.
- Later: on your assistant's page, under Connectors, click Add and pick Gmail. Then click Connect on its card.
Sign in with your Google account on its own sign-in page. Every call runs as you, and Willow keeps the sign-in: your assistant never sees it.
What it starts with
Gmail starts with these tools on, set up the safe way. Every other tool starts off.
| Tool | Name in MCP | Starts as |
|---|---|---|
| List emails | list-emails | Use freely |
| Read email | read-email | Use freely |
| Search Gmail threads | search-gmail-threads | Use freely |
| Get Gmail thread | get-gmail-thread | Use freely |
| Get Gmail attachment | get-gmail-attachment | Use freely |
| Create Gmail draft | create-gmail-draft | Require Session |
| Send Gmail message | send-gmail-message | Ask Each Time |
In the setup, these read Always allow, Require session and Always ask. To change one, or turn on more, open your assistant's page and click the arrow on Gmail's card. See Apps and tools.
Try asking
- "Read my last email"
- "Which emails need a reply today?"
Good to know
- A draft stays in your Drafts folder until you, or an approved Send Gmail message, sends it.
- Add a rule that blocks Send Gmail message when to doesn't end with
@yourcompany.com, so it never writes outside your company. - The Email addresses guard skips this app from the start: its tools need real addresses to work. If you limit that guard to only some servers, leave this one out. See Guards.
