Local MCP servers
Some servers your admin enables run on your computer. They need something that exists only there, such as local files or a desktop app. On the MCP Servers page these servers carry a Local badge. The list filter includes Local Only when you want to see just those.
Connect
Open the server and click Use. The dialog offers STDIO only. Copy the configuration into your AI client.
That configuration starts npx -y @mcp-s/mcp on your machine. The client runs the server locally and signs you in to Willow. Your machine needs Node.js installed. If the server talks to a desktop app, that app has to be running on the same computer.
Streamable HTTP and the Willow CLI option are not available for a local server. Pick an AI tool in the dialog that can run a local command.
