MCP Servers

Manage your Model Context Protocol servers and their available tools.

What is MCP?​

The Model Context Protocol (MCP) is an open protocol that enables AI assistants to connect to external data sources and tools. MCP provides a standardized way for AI applications to access context from various systems.

Overview​

The MCP Servers page displays all servers available in your workspace. Each server provides a set of tools that your AI assistant can use.

Server List​

Servers are grouped by where they come from (for example, Organization). Each server card shows:

  • Server name and icon: identifies the service (for example, GitHub, Figma, or Jira)
  • Status dot: green when you're connected to the server
  • Tools: how many tools the server provides
  • Users and Calls: how many people use the server and how many tool calls it has handled (your admin can hide these)
  • Buttons: Connect if you haven't connected yet; otherwise Use, one-click Add to Cursor and Add to VS Code buttons, and a ⋮ menu

Searching and Filtering​

Use the search bar at the top of the page to filter servers by name. Below it you can sort the list (for example, Last Used) and filter by status and type.

Connecting to a Server​

Servers that are not yet connected show a Connect button. Click it to:

  1. Start the OAuth flow (if required)
  2. Grant permissions to the target service
  3. Return to Willow with the connection established

The authorization opens in a separate popup window. Some servers sign you in and return automatically; others show a consent screen to approve first. If your browser blocks the popup, allow popups for this site and click Connect again.

Once connected, the server's status dot turns green and its button changes to Use.

Using Servers​

Click Use on a connected server to open the Connect MCP dialog set up for that server alone. Pick your AI client and follow the steps it shows. See Connection Methods.

Cursor and VS Code users can click the one-click buttons on the card instead.

Server Menu​

Click the three-dot menu (⋮) on a connected server card for additional options:

  • View - Open the server's details and tools
  • Disable - Turn the server off without removing your connection
  • Re-authenticate - Refresh your authorization using the server's current method
  • Disconnect - Remove your connection to the server

If an admin changes a server's authentication method, your existing connection keeps the old one. Re-authenticate reuses that old method, so to switch, choose Disconnect and then Connect again to authorize under the new method.
