Chat with Your Agent
Agents that run on Willow Agents have two places to chat on the web:
- Try it, on the agent's page in Sprout. Use it to test changes: it always uses your latest saved setup.
- The web chat page, a full-page chat with its own link. Click Open chat in the agent's header, or copy the link from the Overview tab under Chat with it.
Both are for you alone. Each keeps its own history of your chats.
To chat in Slack, see Slack. Agents that run in Instinct or Grok Bot are used from that assistant instead; see Access bundles.
Send a message
Type in Message and press Enter. Shift+Enter adds a new line. A message can be up to 4,000 characters. In an empty chat, click a conversation starter to send it.
Click New chat to start over, or open the history menu to go back to an earlier chat. Chats are named after their first message.
If the agent takes longer than a few minutes, you can leave. Its answer shows up when you come back to the chat.
See what it did
When the agent uses tools, a Worked · N steps line appears above its answer, with the logos of the apps it used. Click it to see each step: what the agent Sent and the Result or Error it got back.
Approve a tool call
Tools set to Ask Each Time, or matched by an Ask first rule, stop and wait for you. A card shows the tool and exactly what it will send.
- Click Approve to run it once, with exactly what's shown.
- Click Deny and the call doesn't run.
See Approve tool calls.
Connect an account from the chat
If the agent needs an app you haven't signed in to, a Connect card appears in the chat. Click Connect, sign in, and the agent continues where it stopped. You can also sign in ahead of time on the Overview tab.
Change the agent from the chat
When you chat with your own agent, you can ask it to change itself: "connect Notion", "save this as a skill", "reply more briefly from now on". The agent can look up its setup, find and add connectors, save skills and update its settings. The agent's page refreshes to show the change. Nobody else who talks to it can do this.
When it doesn't answer
- "This agent is paused": click Go live in the agent's header.
- It says it can't use a tool: open the Overview tab and connect the app.
- It stopped answering for the day: it reached its Messages per day limit. Raise it under Settings > General, or wait until tomorrow.
- It has used up your plan's credits. See Plans and billing.
