Where Your Agent Runs
Every Sprout agent runs in one place. You pick it when you build the agent, and you can change it at any time. Its connectors, skills and memory always come along.

|---|---|---|---|
| Who does the thinking | Willow runs the agent | Instinct, in its browser | Grok |
| How you talk to it | Web chat and Slack | In Instinct | In Grok |
| How it reaches the tools | Directly, through Willow | A private link and a password | A remote MCP server and a password |
| Instructions, channels, built-in tools | Yes | No: the assistant brings its own | No: the assistant brings its own |

Choose Willow Agents when you want a ready-to-chat agent with its own instructions, web chat and Slack app.
Choose Instinct or Grok Bot when you already use that assistant and want to give it a safe, limited set of your tools and skills. Sprout calls this an access bundle. See Access bundles.
Move an agent
- Open the agent and click Settings, then General.
- Under Where it runs, click the new place.
- Read what changes, then click Move it.
What happens next depends on the move:
- From Willow Agents: its web chat and Slack app stop answering.
- From Instinct or Grok Bot: its access is removed, so the assistant is disconnected at once.
- To Instinct or Grok Bot: create access for the assistant on the Overview tab.
- To Willow Agents: it goes live with its tools, skills and memory. Add instructions and channels under Settings.
