Slack
An agent on Willow Agents can have its own Slack app, with its name and avatar. It answers @mentions, direct messages and the threads it's in. Same agent, same guards as in the web chat.
Add it to Slack
- Open the agent and click Settings, then Channels. You can also click Add to Slack on the Overview tab.
- On the Slack card, click Add to Slack.
- Pick a workspace and allow the app.
Sprout returns you to Channels with "Added to" and your workspace name. Some workspaces need an admin to approve new apps before you can install them.
If Slack says the link expired, click Add to Slack again: the link lasts 15 minutes.
Choose where it answers
Once it's in Slack:
- In channels it's added to:
- When @mentioned (default): replies in a thread when someone mentions it.
- Every message: answers everything in channels it's added to.
- Off: ignores channels and answers direct messages only.
- Direct messages: answers people who message it directly. On by default.
Invite the agent to a channel in Slack, as you would any app, before it can answer there.
Who it answers
- If it uses your accounts, it only answers you in Slack. Everyone else gets a polite no, so nobody can use your Gmail or GitHub through it.
- If it doesn't use your accounts, it answers anyone in the workspace.
The Safety tab shows which applies under Who can use it.
Approvals in Slack
Slack can't show an approval, so tools set to Ask Each Time and calls matched by an Ask first rule are blocked in Slack. To use those tools, chat with the agent on the web. See Approve tool calls.
Remove it from Slack
Click Remove from Slack, then Remove. Sprout deletes the agent's Slack app, so it leaves the workspace. You can add it again later. Deleting the agent removes its Slack app too.
Microsoft Teams is coming soon.
