Skills
A skill is a Markdown playbook the agent follows when a request matches: a reply format, a review checklist, a refund policy. Skills don't give the agent new tools. They tell it how to do a job.
Open the agent and click the Skills tab. An agent can have up to 5 skills.
Let Sprout draft a skill
- In the bar under the header, describe the skill, for example "how to handle refund requests politely".
- Click Draft it. The editor opens with a draft.
- Edit it, then click Add skill.
Write a skill
Click New skill and fill in:
- Name: a short title, like "Refund requests".
- When to use it: the kind of request this skill is for. The agent reads this to decide when to follow it. Up to 200 characters.
- Instructions (Markdown): the playbook itself. Up to 8,000 characters. The Preview shows how it reads.
Click Add skill. To change a skill later, click Open on its card, then Save skill.
Upload a skill
Click Upload, or drop a file onto the list. Sprout accepts:
- A
SKILL.mdor any.mdfile. - A
.zipor.skillfile with one or moreSKILL.mdfiles. Each becomes a skill.
Files can be up to 5 MB. Sprout skills are instructions only, so scripts, images and other files in a zip are left out.
Sprout takes the skill's name from the name field in its frontmatter, or else from its first heading or file name, and When to use it from the description field or its first paragraph. A skill with the same name as an existing one replaces it.
Remove a skill
Click the delete icon on its card. Click Undo in the message if you change your mind.
